Collector of photography and design enthusiast, Antonin Mercier left the art world to introduce the first editions of LAPS watches in 2015. With this brand, he aims to bring a new look to the world of watchmaking, bringing a touch of originality by seeking inspiration from around the world.
Combining cultural discoveries and craft know-how, LAPS watches are conceived as works of art to be displayed on the wrist. From artistic collaborations to the most unusual models, each edition tells the story of an encounter with a singular universe. A subtle blend of aesthetics turned into the essence of the brand, which continuously seeks to sublimate creativity in all its forms. Prioritising work with French craftsmen and partners, most of the dials are handmade using the know-how of craftsmanship and printing techniques.
From the laboratory to their rue de Bellechasse workshop in Paris, LAPS artistic dials are designed, developed, and made with local contributors: controlled production, to ensure minimum stocks to produce only what is necessary. But the LAPS commitment also involves constant work to reduce the environmental footprint of production: recycled watch movements, use of French and Italian leathers, reduction or removal of plastic in packaging, and more.
