MATHON PARIS
High coloured jewellery
Maison Mathon has a signature: nature. Since the foundation of the first workshop in 1931, becoming Maison Mathon in 1971, the family affair has seen four generations draw inspiration from the bucolic environment: the rebirth of the seasons, the magnificence of changing colours, the secret life of the forest. This organic aesthetic nourishes the Mathon style, which over the years has grown richer through new creations through graphic design or inspired by marine life.
Founder Roger Mathon’s passion for painting ensured that colour would forever remain a core element of the House. Today, Aude Mathon and her husband Jean-Baptiste are committed to sustaining this heritage, while continuing to innovate with leading-edge methods. Every single jewellery creation is handmade in the Parisian workshop.
Mathon Paris is a jewellery house based in Paris since 1931. Founder Roger Mathon was an artist who started designing jewellery in the ‘40s. The House is still family-run by the 4th generation, today embodied by Aude and Jean-Baptiste.
Every single jewellery piece is created and handmade in the Parisian workshop. Since the beginning, colours, animals, and plants, alongside complicit nature observation are the main inspirations behind the creations.
The Bestioles collection, historical theme of the House, stages small creatures and insects that surround Vergers, the family home. Here, in the grass and near the water, dragonflies and butterflies dance a delicate ballet inviting you to dream.
For several decades, Mathon Paris has produced its Les Merveilles de la Mer collection: a world filled with seahorses, sea urchins, corals, and more. As in Homer’s Odyssey, where a song gave creatures some fantastic abilities and magical power, this collection is an extraordinary expressive song for jewellers and setters. Jewels with extravagant volumes, set with colourful gemstones, amazing opals and sparkling diamonds.
Emblematic of the naturalist style of the House, the Florilège collection seems like a huge bouquet of flowers from gardens and fields, which you add to on walks through the seasons. This floral line expresses sculptural shapes through corollas and petals, highlighting a vast array of coloured gemstones.
The Passages architectural theme completes the fundamentals of the House. It is inspired by Parisian passageways and their art deco patterns.
Finally, Les Intemporelles reunites sober jewels with sleek and contemporary lines. These elegant and colourful creations can be worn alone or with others every day.
Recognition of the Workshop’s excellence is honoured by EPV certification “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” (Living Heritage Company) awarded by the French State in 2007. The craft techniques are preciously passed down from generation to generation within the workshops. Mathon jewels bear the signature of excellence, materialised by the “Joaillerie de France” stamp. This distinction represents the title hallmark and the master hallmark used in France, proving that each piece was made according to the rules of French jewellery artistry. It guarantees that the jewel has been manufactured, mounted, set, and polished in France. To this day, it is the only hallmark to really guarantee the French origin and the manufacturing quality of jewels. Maison Mathon, certified by the “Responsible Jewellery Council”, is committed to the promotion of ethical, social, and environmental practices throughout the jewellery industry, from mining through to the point of sale. This approach reflects our sensitivity to sustainable development of the planet.
