KELTON
Vous changez, changez de Kelton.
Kelton was born in 1955, between the United States and France, under the impetus of Stéphane Boullier, a watchmaker in Besançon. He was entrusted with some of the production of the American giant Timex on the condition that a French brand would be created at the same time. This was Kelton, which would become the French watch brand par excellence.
A pillar of our pop culture, Kelton reigned over the watches for all market during the ‘60s and ‘70s, making its mark with its youthful and irreverent spirit, driven by offbeat communication and a sung slogan: change yourself, change your Kelton.
Evolution
Winter 2020/21 was a decisive turning point in the history of Kelton, as it carved out a new place in the landscape of French brands, making the emblem of the joyful consumerism of the past evolve towards a more premium, responsible offer, conscious of new societal issues and able to respond to them, keeping a reasonable quality-price ratio, a point that has always been emblematic of the brand.
Indestructible
Note that a Kelton from the ‘70s still working is not exceptional, as the famous advertisement by Jean-Jacques Annaud said: "Kelton watches resist everything... well, almost everything" (we were shown a Kelton being crushed by the longest train in the world). Big in Japan At the same time as its redeployment in France, Kelton seduced the Japanese market, fond of stories and rebirths, and is distributed via some prestigious points of sale: Isetan and Takashimaya among others. MoMA 2023 marks the beginning of Kelton's distribution at the MoMA design store in New York.
Values
Better than ever, Kelton knows how to address young adults allergic to binary configurations as well as collectors of beautiful watches, including forty-somethings who do not base their personal success solely on the price of their watch, but on more altruistic values, such as eco-responsibility. Kelton contributes to this by becoming a patron of the Fondation de la mer (Sea foundation). French National Assembly Kelton is the official supplier of the French National Assembly.
