JARS CÉRAMISTES
French ceramic manufacturer since 1857
Jars, an everyday inspiring liberty. Living ceramics, which invite you to mix and share. Complicit objects that you love to hijack, adopt, and rediscover endlessly.
A passion for the earth, graceful gestures, attention to detail: inherited values that survive to this day in our production facility.
Since its creation in 1857 by Pierre Jars in a small village of Drôme, in the south of France, Jars has never ceased to defend its love of beautiful handmade products. For generations in the workshops, hands have been stamping, de-moulding, de-burring, glazing, and much more. A precise and meticulous ballet of gestures.
From drawing to firing, via modelling, stoneware paste and glaze production, calibration, casting, finishing and glazing, there are in all 10 steps and 21 handling points, necessary to the production of ceramics with demanding craftsmanship. Each piece is unique. Neither exactly the same, nor totally different.
Spontaneous, simple and lively, Jars ceramic creations relate creative freedom. They dare unexpected contrasts, escape from the classics, follow their instinct. Impudently. Experiment with an infinite palette of glaze colours and sensual materials. Play with shapes and conserve their wild nature. Seek simplicity in refinement. Be moved by this surprising poetry. Keep love for the material intact. Ceramics with organic charm. Genuine everyday luxury. A profound nature.
